Mark is running because he cares deeply about the future of this community, for our families, our kids, and our grandkids. His leadership is grounded in practical solutions that strengthen our economy, support local communities, and protect the values that make Union County home.
About Mark Simmons
Mark Simmons is a lifelong Eastern Oregon resident with a proven record of leadership and service.
He served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 1997 to 2003, including as Speaker of the House, the only Speaker from Union County. During his time in Salem, Mark worked to ensure rural communities had a strong voice in state government.
Mark also served as State Director for USDA Rural Development, where he helped bring critical resources to communities across Oregon, supporting infrastructure, housing, and economic development.
Throughout his career, Mark has focused on practical solutions that strengthen local economies, support families, and protect the values that make Eastern Oregon unique.
Mark and his wife, Joni, have built their life in Union County and are proud parents, grandparents, and members of the community.
Now, Mark is running for Union County Commissioner to bring experienced leadership back home and to help build a stronger future for the next generation.
